About Membership

We always welcome new members to the Stockbridge Golf Club.

The culture of the club can best be described as an informal summer golf and tennis club. Members of the club and guests enjoy golf, tennis and a warm social life in a friendly, informal, field club atmosphere. Our membership comes from a wide cross-section of the local population, as well as non-residents and second-home owners who are attracted to the Berkshires for its natural beauty and rich cultural life.

The membership process is simple and the club offers many membership categories to fit the varying needs of different people. These categories include Family, Single, Senior, Under 35, Junior, Evening, and Non-Resident.

The local community has much to offer as well. The Towns of Stockbridge, neighboring Lenox and, indeed, the entire Berkshire county area, are renowned for cultural and performing arts events of all kinds throughout the year, and for museums, hiking, skiing, antiques shops, bed & breakfast inns, fine dining and much more. Some of the local icons include the Red Lion Inn, the Norman Rockwell Museum, Tanglewood, the Berkshire Theater Festival, the Barrington Stage Company, Shakespeare & Company, Colonial Theater and Jacob’s Pillow – just to name a few. It’s a great place to live and a wonderful place for a second home.

Many of the fine inns in the Berkshires can make arrangements for non-members to play the golf course. Those who sample the course often become members. If you are interested in joining the club please contact Christine Schaefer by telephone at 413.298.3439 ext. 1, or by email at [email protected]. Or, get in touch with a member you may know.

We have demo equipment and great teaching pros to get you started playing Golf and/or Tennis.
With several sets of tees and the Housatonic River meandering throughout, the golf course can fit (or challenge) the game of any golfer at any skill level. From the back tees, the course measures 6,655 yards - short by modern standards, but with a premium on accuracy due to the close proximity of the river on more than half the holes. There’s plenty of challenge here if you want it. Conversely, higher handicap players have the opportunity to choose from among three sets of forward tees, so the course can be enjoyable for all ability levels.
